Xtra Time News Desk: It seems like a playful and humorous April Fool’s Day joke from the England Cricket Board. Jos Buttler, the England white-ball captain, announced that he has officially changed his first name to ‘Josh’ after realizing that he’s been mistakenly called ‘Josh’ his entire life. The announcement was made through a video uploaded by the ECB on social media.

In the video, Buttler humorously recounts instances where he has been called ‘Josh’ instead of ‘Jos’, including receiving birthday cards addressed to ‘Josh’. He mentions that even his MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) was incorrect. Therefore, after over 13 years of representing his country and winning two World Cups, he decides to officially change his name to ‘Josh Buttler’.

Despite the light-hearted nature of the announcement, it’s important to remember that this occurred on April 1st, which is commonly known as April Fool’s Day, suggesting that it might just be a prank or joke.

Following the announcement, Buttler is expected to play his first official match under the name ‘Josh Buttler’ for the Rajasthan Royals against the Mumbai Indians later in the day. Buttler, known for his explosive batting, has had a successful cricket career, including winning the Orange Cap in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 for scoring the most runs in the tournament.
