Xtra Time Web Desk: Royal Challengers Bangalore was dealt a blow ahead of the IPL 2021 second leg in UAE as off spinner Washington Sundar was ruled out. He is still to recover from the finger injury he suffered in England. Washington could not clear the fitness test at the NCA.

According to a statement released by the franchise, it said, “Royal Challengers Bangalore’s all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the remainder of the Vivo IPL 2021 due to a finger injury. Akash Deep, a state cricketer from Bengal and net bowler with the franchise has been named as replacement. The move reiterates the focus RCB has on grooming and nurturing young players as the team continues to develop exceptional talents and create a pathway for young talents to find their way into IPL and Indian Cricket.”

Bengal cricketer Akash Deep, who is net bowler with the franchise, has been named as replacement for the remainder of the IPL.

It was learnt that Washington appeared in a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru a few days back but could not clear that.

With the T20 World Cup slated to begin immediately after the conclusion of the IPL 2021, it remains to be seen if Washington is picked in the Indian squad without playing a single IPL game.
