Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India wicket keeper batsman Rishabh Pant will continue to lead Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2021 second leg in UAE which resumes next month from September 19. Ex captain Shreyas Iyer will play under Pant in the remaining season of the cash rich league. According to reports, the DC management does not want to tinker with the captaincy for IPL 2021 in UAE.

As per a report in Cricbuzz, the co-owners of the Delhi franchise Kiran Kumar Granthi and Parth Jindal have reached a decision to continue with Rishabh Pant. They do not want to take any chances considering Shreyas Iyer’s lack of competitive games.

However, Granthi, who is now running the franchise as per the internal agreement, refused to commit. He told Cricbuzz that a decision will be reached once all the players and coaches assemble in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer has fully recovered from the shoulder injury he suffered during the ODI series against England at home. The Mumbaikar was forced to miss out on the current edition of the cash rich league at home. Iyer, who recently joined the DC camp has been training in Dubai.

“I am feeling on top of the world, to be honest. This was the thing I was eagerly waiting for. It’s never a bad feeling to be among the team. I came six days prior to the start of the practice sessions for the team, and I had two good games against the UAE team, so I just want to continue with the same momentum,” Shreyas Iyer said in a Delhi Capitals press release.
