IPL 2021 : Consortium of County Clubs offer to host remainder of IPL in September

Two days have past after Board of Control for Cricket in India and Indian Premier League’s governing council has announced the indefinite postponement of the 14 th season of Indian Premier League. Players from India and Foreign nations are returning back home one by one.

In this situation a dark cloud looms large in the fate of hosting and finishing the remainder of the IPL 2021. It is learnt that consortium of English County Clubs have come forward and placed an offer before England and Wales cricket Board to host the remainder of the season in their grounds in the month if September. The Kia Oval (London), Edgbaston (Birmingham),Emirates Old Trafford and MCC,Surrey, Warwickshire and Lancashire those who are based in London have wrote to England and Wales cricket Board regarding this matter . They have urged ECB to reach out to BCCI with their offers.

English counties promised to deliver quality pitches for quality cricket just before the T-20 World Cup which is slated to be hosted by India in October this year. They also hope to stage the event infront of the crowds as well. It is known that BCCI is keen to host the event in the September event as well. BCCI sources said if situation improves by September they would definitely try to host the event. Meanwhile 8 out of 11 English cricketers apart from Morgan, Jordan and Mawlan have reached hom safely.
