Xtra Time Web Desk: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) climbed on top of the IPL 2021 points table after registering a six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday.

After being sent to bat first, RCB got off to a blistering start through their openers Virat Kohli (53) and Devdutt Padikkal (70). The duo added 11 runs for the opening wicket. Super Kings pulled things back as Bravo broke the opening stand, dismissing Kohli for 53 as Ravindra Jadeja took the catch in the deep. Shardul Thakur’s twin strikes in the 17th over saw the back of both AB de Villiers and Padikkal. RCB never seemed to recover as they were restricted to 156/6 after 20 overs.

Chasing 157 to win, Faf du Plessis (31) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (38) provided a quick start to CSK’s innings. Despite losing wickets in the middle overs, CSK romped to victory with 11 balls to spare owing to MS Dhoni (11*) and Suresh Raina’s (17*) late cameos.
