XtraTime Web Desk: Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni once again proved why he is regarded as a unique cricketer. The CSK captain gave enough proof of it by taking a bold decision, one which most other captains will decide against if they were given an option. It is reliably learnt that Dhoni had the option to start the IPL 2020 campaign on September 23 i.e., Match No 5 of the season. But the inspirational CSK captain decided against it and chose to play the opener against Mumbai Indians on September 19 at Abu Dhabi.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council gave the Chennai based franchise an option to start their campaign at a later date instead of September 19. The idea was to provide the CSK team more preparation time since they missed 6 days due to the COVID-19 cases in the camp. But the courageous CSK captain decided to play the opener against Mumbai Indians on September 19.
Contrary to all speculations the Chennai franchise had opted for schedule in which they will be playing 3 games with in the first 6 days of start of the league. In the first week of IPL 2020, CSK will be the only team to play 3 games with-in the first week. The Yellow Army will take on Mumbai Indians on September 19 followed by matches against Rajasthan Royals (September 22) and Delhi Capitals (September 25).
