Xtra Time Web Desk: The Indian T20 team for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka will see some of the big names missing in the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. All the six cricketers were part of the Indian squad for T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The sacked selection committee led by Chetan Sharma has tried to be bold by giving opportunities to youngsters like Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Rahul Tripathi and Umran Malik. This move from the selectors has given rise to the speculation whether it is the start of transition as far as the T20 side is concerned in the build up to the T20 World Cup in 2024.

According to reports, the selectors after the instructions from BCCI top hierarchy have already spoken to a few cricketers that they will not be considered in the T20 format. The Indian cricket board and selectors have decided to move on without a few senior cricketers in the T20 format.

The likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Dinesh Karthik and Mohd Shami are very unlikely to be part of the T20 sides for future. It is still not clear whether Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma will be persisted with in the shorter format anytime soon.

With Hardik Pandya appointed as the new T20 captain, the BCCI is looking to revamp the T20 format in the lead up to the 2024 T20 World Cup.
