Internet Desk: Indian women’s hockey team conceived a close defeat to USA prior to Rio Olympics. The Rio bound team however, is not upset with the defeat. Rather they are considering the match as a good practice game.

India is much behind to USA according to the Federation International Hockey ranking table. USA is in the 5th position whereas India stands at no.13. It is good for Indian women’s hockey team that they conceived only three goals while scoring two.

From Indian side Preeti Dubey and Deepika scored in the third half of the match. Till the last quarter there was neck-to-neck fight among the teams.

India had a slow start at the beginning of the match. USA took early control by scoring the first goal at the sixth minute of the match. After conceiving the goal Indian brigade raised to score. However, they started the second half further conceiving the second goal.

After conceiving the second goal Indian women raised to protect their goal line. USA players hardly enter the third box to score. In the 33rd and 38th minute India scored twice. India completed the third half with 2-2. At the end of the game USA further took the charge of the game at the final half. As a result at the last half USA took the lead and finally won the match.

Indian head coach Neil Hawgood praised Indian girls. He said, “These matches are extremely crucial as our final preparations for Rio Olympics. We had a neck-neck fight today, the girls played well. We are going to analyse the loopholes and better on in our subsequent matches.”
