Xtra Time Web Desk : Team India will play the first Test of their all important three match series against South Africa at Centurion from December 26. And the preparations have already begun well for Kohli and co as they have been seen toiling hard in practice sessions. But in absence of Ravindra Jadeja, the number 7 spot still remains a puzzle as to who would fill up the coveted all rounder’s shoes.

And now, former Chairman of Selectors, MSK Prasad has had his say on the above matter. In an interview with PTI, the 46 year old said, “I think Shardul Thakur is the best choice if they go in with five bowlers as he also gives the option of a steady No.7 batter and we also have Ravichandran Ashwin. Four bowlers in this line-up are now confirmed if all fit — Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Ashwin and Mohammed Siraj. I don’t think, Ishant will be considered ahead of Siraj on current form.”

Now, with Jadeja’s absence, it would be interesting to see if Kohli led Team India plays with an extra batter in between Hanuma Vihari and Ajinkya Rahane or goes with a bowling all rounder in Shardul Thakur.
