India left back Subhasish Bose lives his father’s dream

XtraTime Web Desk: After playing two seasons with Mumbai City FC, Kolkata’s very own Subhasish Bose has returned to the City of Joy to play for ATK-Mohun Bagan in the next season. After returning to Kolkata he talked with XtraTime Bangla in a live chat where Subhasish revealed his plans for the new season. Here is the conversation:

Ready for the challenge

See I am ready for the new challenge and that’s why I have returned to Kolkata. Now the future will tell whether I would be successful or not.

Getting back old friends

Pritam Kotal, Prabir Das & Pranoy Halder are very good friends of mine. I am ready to share the field them here as it will help to build the chemistry between us when we will play together for India as well. We all know that football has its own language but when we will talk in Bengali during the game, the job will be more easy for us.

Mohun Bagan supporters & Sanjoy Sen

I have played for many clubs but it’s true that I won’t get this kind of fame if I didn’t play for Mohun Bagan. The supporters of Mohun Bagan have given me a lot of love and affection and the key behind my success was Sanjoy Sen sir. If he didn’t give me the chance to play, I wouldn’t have got this kind of fame.

Stephen Constantine & Igor Stimac

I had got my maiden call-up in the Indian Football Team during Stephen Constantine’s time. It was Intercontinental Cup. I also led the side in Saff Cup under his guidance. Now Igor Stimac has come to take the mantle and help us to go forward. He has given us a strict routine during the ongoing lockdown which is helping us to be fully fit. But I think that we need to play more international matches for the betterment of the team.

Can play in various positions

I usually play as a left side back now, but I had played at many positions in my career. At the beginning of my career, I used to play as a defensive midfielder, later I played as a forward as well.

Sunil Bhai

Sunil Chhetri can become an idol for any young footballer. I have played with him in Bengaluru FC & Indian Football Team. I can say one thing that he is very much passionate about the game and that makes him different from any other footballer.

A gift to father

My father too was a footballer. He used to play at Kolkata Maidan for Taltala Club. When I was a little boy, my father used to take my elder brother with him at the ground for practice in our village. One day I requested my father to buy me a boot to play football, and surprisingly he bought that boot for me. Later when I became older, I used to come to the Central Park thrice a week for practice, and he also came there every day to watch my practice. My father had done a lot of struggle for me as his only dream was to see me play for the nation. That’s why I gave my first India jersey to my father as a gift.
