Internet Desk: Young Shreyas Iyer has been in and out of the Indian squad for many times. Now the selectors have picked him again for the T20 series against New Zealand. Shreyas batted really well as an opener in the Indian Premier League Season 10, but the team currently needs a batsman in the middle order who can hold the innings. The young batsman is pretty confident that he can bat wherever the team wants him.

“I am flexible in any position. I won’t mind batting on any number for the side. Even in the IPL this year I was shuffled to number 3 to number 4, so it really didn’t matter to me and I can bat wherever the team management wants,” said Iyer while addressing the media in a pre-match press-conference.

The young batsman from Mumbai is eyeing a place in the playing XI to make his international debut. The young batsman though just want India’s win at any cost, whether he gets a chance or not doesn’t matter to him.

“Yes I am hopeful for a place in the playing XI. We will play three matches in this T20 series, if I can get a chance to play in any one match among these that would be great for me. It doesn’t matter to me whether I would get a chance in the team, but what does matter is my team’s win.”

Shreyas hasn’t got a chance to attend a team meeting as he has just joined the squad. But according to him this New Zealand side is much better than the other visiting teams and they would give a good fight to the India’s in the 20-over format too.

“I haven’t attended any team meeting till now as I have just joined the squad. They are much better side than the others who had recently visited India. The Kiwis have produced a resilient fight in the recently concluded ODI series against us. We will definitely discuss this issue in the team meetings but I cannot share that in front of the media.”
