Xtra Time Web Desk: It was a dream come true moment for pace sensation Umran Malik as he made his debut for India in the first T20I against Ireland at the Malahide Cricket Club on Sunday. Umran was handed over his India cap by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Umran became only the second cricketer from Jammu & Kashmir to play for India after Parvez Rasool.

Umran bowled just one over, giving away 14 runs in the rain curtailed first T20I.

It has been quite a fascinating ride so far for Umran. He was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of IPL 2022 for INR 4 crores. He impressed one and all with his consistent pace throughout the season, the result of which he was fast-tracked in the Indian T20I squad. Umran had to wait for his opportunity as he did not get a chance in the recently concluded series against South Africa.

The 22-year consistently clocked 150 Km/hr and also bowled the second fastest delivery of 157 Km/hr in IPL 2022. Umran finished as the fourth-highest wicket-taker of the season with 22 wickets.

Umran Malik is the 98th player to represent India in the shortest format.
