Internet Desk: The former Real Madrid goalkeeper, now at Porto, is Spain’s most-capped player with 167 appearances having made his debut for the national side in 2000.

Casillas was named in Vicente Del Bosque’s squad for Euro 2016 but didn’t get off the bench as David De Gea was the first-choice goalkeeper for the duration of the tournament.

Indeed, the long-serving 35-year-old hinted that an official announcement is forthcoming via social media the very next evening, though chose to do so in a slightly confusing manner, thanking his legions of followers before posting a fitting snippet from Rambo II.

The video comes from the final scene of the movie and features Sylvester Stallone’s titular hero saying his farewells to Colonel Trautman and asking only one thing: “for our country to love us as much as we love it.”
