ICC WTC Final, Day 1: Virat Kohli is ‘not bothered’ with weather forecast; first session washed out in Southampton

Xtra Time Web Desk: As predicted the rain gods started playing spoil sport in the inaugural ICC World Test Championship Final between India and New Zealand. Play has been washed out for the first session due to heavy showers in Southampton. The umpires have decided to delay the toss as well. As far as the weather forecast goes, it is likely to rain throughout the day.

Indian captain Virat Kohli do not want to lose his sleep over the change in playing conditions. It had been bright and sunny in Southampton until Wednesday. The Indian team not only practiced outdoors but was also involved in an intra squad match.

Kohli was asked about the weather in Southampton prior to the test match in the pre-match press conference. The Indian captain was prompt to reply that weather is not something that bothered him.

“Forecast is something we are not focussed on. We are not going to think about what might change. Regardless of anything we have all our bases covered and we know that. So, we are not bothered about what the weather forecast holds or whether we have to change the whole outlook of the team,” Kohli said in the pre match conference in Southampton
