I-League 2017-18: Minerva registers crucial victory over Aizawl, goes on top

XtraTime Web Desk: I League title contender Minerva Punjab managed to win their home match against defending champions Aizwal FC 2-0 in a very important fixture. Akash Sangwan scored the all important goal to make the difference and in the dying minutes of the game as former East Bengal player Bazie Armand scored the second goal for his new team.

Minerva played well in the first half but couldn’t find the way to score. In the 30th minute Awizal FC got a great chance Lalthathanga crossed a ball in the penalty box but Bali Gagandeep missed the chance. Chencho got a chance in 34 th minute but Lalram Hmuhmawia blocked it.

In the second half Minerva got their reward. as Akash scored in the 50 th minute. Chencho delivered a ball Avilash saved but Akash headed it to the goal. Chencho again got a chance as Avilash tumbled but Lalchhawnkima saved the away side. In the dying minutes Bazie scored for the home side to double the lead as Kamalpreet sent the long ball in which was flicked on by William behind an advancing Avilash and Bazie had an open goal to put that in. Minarva player Eric Dano declared as hero of the match.
