Xtra Time Web Desk : ATK Mohun Bagan suffers yet another defeat against Jamshedpur FC, after the brutal Mumbai City thrashing of 5-1, last week. The Red Miners were able to secure a narrow victory of 2-1 against ATK Mohun Bagan, as it was fierce match between the two sides.
For Jamshedpur it was Seiminlen Doungel who marked his name on the scoresheet with the opening goal of the match in the 37th minute. Later on, Alex made it 2-0 for the Red Miners in the 84th minute. While for ATK it was Pritam Kotal who scored a consolation goal at the 88th minute.
The game in the started with Jamshedpur seeing the ball more often than ATK Mohun Bagan. While the Mariners were struggling to keep out most of the Red Miners attacks following their three-man defense. However, they did a good job until the 37th minute in which Jamshedpur opened the scoring with Doungel firing a right footed shot towards the ATK goal. That’s where the difference was set in the first half.
In the second half, ATK looked like a team with a plan as they kept hold on the ball with back-to-back counter attacks. However, it was of no use as they couldn’t break the Jamshedpur defense. Later on, after the hour mark the game became end-to-end display as their was continuous attacks from both the sides
In the 84th minute Alex was brought in by Jamshedpur to hold the midfield, but the player went to score within 20 seconds on the pitch. ATK got their consolation goal from corne in the 88th minute as Ashutosh Mehta assited Pritam Kotal.
Securing this win, Jamshedpur currently sits second in the table, while ATK drop down to fifth place suffering two consecutive defeats.
