He should be the one to come out and tell us what happened : Gavaskar takes a dig at Azharuddin’s comments over Virat-Rohit’s alleged rift

Xtra Time Web Desk : Former Team India skipper and opener Sunil Gavaskar has opened up on the much speculated Kohli – Rohit rift controversy that has been creating rounds around Indian cricket for the past few days. Since BCCI’s announcement to make Rohit Sharma the new ODI captain replacing Virat Kohli, the controversy has been fueled by comments from ex cricketers and cricket experts all around the country.


One such name is former Team India captain Mohammed Azharuddin, who took to the Twitter on Tuesday to write, “Virat Kohli has informed that he’s not available for the ODI series & Rohit Sharma is unavailable fr d upcoming test. There is no harm in takin a break but d timing has to be better. This just substantiates speculation abt d rift. Neither wil be giving up d other form of cricket.”

And now, Gavaskar has taken a dig at his former team mate Azharuddin on India Today and said, “Unless both the players come out with something, we should not jump to conclusions. Yes, Azhar has said something; if Azhar has some inside information on what has happened, he should be the one to come out and tell us what happened,”


Also standing in behind Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the legendary batter added, “I will give the benefit of doubt to both the players because they have served Indian cricket brilliantly. I don’t think it is fair for any of us to point fingers at them.”


Now with the controversy taking twists and turns at every step, it would be intriguing to see what effect it is going to have on Indian Cricket.
