French Open 2022: Rafael Nadal beat Casper Rudd to win 14th title at Roland Garros

Xtra Time Web Desk: Tennis ace Rafael Nadal once again established his supremacy on clay court as he beat Casper Ruud 6-3, 6-3, 6-0 in the French Open final for his 14th championship at Roland Garros on Sunday. It was Nadal’s 22nd career Grand Slam title as he extended his lead over Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. The Spaniard won the last 11 games after trailing 3-1 in the second set.

Nadal’s victory Sunday came two days after his 36th birthday and made him the oldest title winner in the history of French Open. The Spaniard’s first triumph here came in 2005 at age 19. Nadal has now won most number of French Open titles.

The eighth-seeded Ruud is a 23-year-old from Norway who was playing in his first Grand Slam final.
