Internet Desk: According to sources former Newcastle defensive midfielder Cheick Tioté has reportedly passed away after suffering a heart attack when he collapsed in training with Beijing Enterprises on Monday.

The player from Ivory Coast had joined Chineese Club with Beijing Enterprise in Junary after serving seven long years at Newcastle. He has played 11 games for his new new club.

Craig Hope of the Mail confirmed initial reports that the ex-Anderlecht man died after his collapse, while former Newcastle teammate and fellow Chinese import Demba Ba took to Twitter to express his sadness, tweeting “may Allah gives grant you jannah brother Tiote”.

Tiote had joined Magpies in 2010 for a sum of £3.5m and has scored his only Premier League goal when his side played a 4-4 draw with Arsenal in 2011.
