Former and current Bengal footballers, coaches come forward to help Amphan victims

XtraTime Web Desk: Former and current Bengal footballers have come forward to help the poor and needy people of the Amphan affected areas of the state. The organisation ‘Players for Humanity’ basically formed by the past and present footballers are taking an active part in providing relief to the Amphan affected areas. Another organization comprising of the coaches and physical instructors ‘Coaches who cares’ have also decided to stay beside the poor people affected by the cyclone.

This is not the first time ‘Players for Humanity’ have come forward for a social cause. Earlier the organization which comprises of as many as 41 former and current footballers like Sandip Nandy, Deepak Mondal, Arnab Mondal, Subarata Paul, Mehtab Hussein,Rahim Nabi and Debabrata Roy stood beside cancer affected footballer Sanjay Parte and late Dhanranjan’s family. They raised an amount of 2 lakhs and 5 lakhs respectively. The organisation has also contributed in Chief Minister’s welfare fund for the coronavirus affected people. This time ‘Players for Humanity’ have come forward to stay beside the Amphan affected poor people of the state. They have already circulated an adverstisement on social media platforms and so far the response has been good.

The organization has shortlisted three areas which has been most affected by Cyclone Amphan. They are Sagardwip, Lakshmikantapur and Gosab. The organization will rebuild four houses in Lakshmikantapur which includes the residence of Mahruf who is an U18 footballer of Bidhannagar academy. There are quite a few houses in Gosab area which have been severely damaged. Few of the owners are known to Mehtab Hussein. Players for Humanity will repair their houses. Together with Ramkrishna Mission, the organization will provide relief to the people of the affected area.

‘Coaches who cares,’ organization is relatively inexperienced as far as social work is concerned. The organization was formed by coaches like Sanjoy Sen, Abhijit Mondal, Basudev Mondal, Shankarlal Chakraborty and others. A lot of 60 members are included in this organization. They have also come forward to lend a helping hand to the poor and needy people of the society.
