Kolkata: Indian national team spearhead and The AIFF’s Player of the Year 2016 Jeje Lalpekhlua officially signs for Mohun Bagan today on loan from Chennayin FC despite lucrative offers from Kingfisher East Bengal and Bengaluru FC.

It had been a tug of war especially between the two arch rivals of Kolkata football to sign India’s prolific goalscorer, especially after Jeje’s declaration in an earlier interview with www.XtraTime.in that he would play in Kolkata only despite offers from the other top I-League clubs from India.

Jeje scored 32 goals in 43 appearances in the last season for Mohun Bagan, Chennayin FC and the Indian National Team. He earned high praise from Chennayin Coach Marco Materazzi as well after having some successful seasons with the franchise.

Jeje’s decision to stay with the Mariners’ emphasised his loyalty and love for the Green and Maroon brigade and no doubt will bolster the attack of the defending Federation Cup champions in the forthcoming I-League and AFC Cup.
