Internet Desk: Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan and East Bengal is all set to play alongside Atletico de Kolkata in the newly introduced Indian Super Cup by the All India Football Federation starting from 2017-18 season. The AIFF after its meeting with the representatives of 29 clubs in the capital, is set to introduce a new tournament called Indian Super Cup. The new tournament will see top four teams from I League and top four teams of ISL playing together.

Here are the following reactions from Mohun Bagan secretary, Anjan Mitra and ISL franchisee Atletico De Kolkata co-owner, Utsav Parekh.

Anjan Mitra said, ” Let us first receive the official letter from AIFF and then we will sit with East Bengal and IFA and come to a solution.”

On the other hand, East Bengal assistant secretary Dr. Shantiranjan Dasgupta who was present in the meeting  as the representative for East Bengal was not available for making any comments. It is likely that, East Bengal too will echo the same of Mohun Bagan.

Atletico De Kolkata co-owner, Utsav Parekh said, ” We are very happy with the decision of the meeting. We expected something like that. Not only us, all the other franchisees from ISL too are happy. With this decision, the picture is crystal clear for all the clubs. Now, all the clubs will have a stake individually.”

FC Pune City co-owner, Gourav Modwel said,” This is a very positive approach. There will be no pulling of ISL and I-League players from here on between the cl;ubs and franchisees. Everything will go in a systematic way. We need a lot of players to play in so many tournaments. We need more academies to work on the grassroots development. Indian Super Cup concept is also very good and it will be lot of opportunities to the Second Division clubs like Lonestar Kashmir FC and Kenkre FC and if they qualify for the I-league Division 1 then they can get a chance to play in the AFC Cup.”

Meanwhile, FIFA and AFC delegates will visit Goa to discuss this issue and the final decision will be made then after they go through the total new map which was set up today.
