Kolkata: Mohun Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen finally breaks his silence regarding Japanese mid-fielder Katsumi Yusa who has joined arch-rival East Bengal for the forthcoming I-League season. East Bengal made this super signing on Tuesday by roping in Green and Maroon brigade’s last season’s captain to strengthen their side for the I-League.

According to the Green & Maroon gaffer, a side like Mohun Bagan waits for none.”A club like Mohun Bagan won’t depend on one person. Garcia and Katsumi have left the side, one day I would leave too, but the legacy of the club will remain the same.”

He further added,” Katsumi was not in my team list too for this season. We have already selected another Japanese midfielder Yuta Kinowaki who played for Shillong Lajong last season.

Sen heaped praise for Haitian star forward Sony Norde, who has renewed his contract with Bagan few days back. But Sanjoy believes in team work, not on any personal brilliance.” There is no doubt that Sony Norde is a brilliant player, but I don’t believe in personal brilliance in football and for me team game always comes first.”

The AIFF is bringing in the the Indian Arrows in the I-League with some changes. Sanjoy Sen was the coach of the team earlier in his managerial career. On being asked about their inclusion in the I-League, Sanjoy said,” It will be good that they will play the League without any foreign player and it would give those youngsters a lot of mental toughness for future, but on the other hand they will have to play against four or five foreigners in every game and they might get injured in these matches. So there would be both good and bad impact in this. But this is a good decision by the AIFF.”

Mohun Bagan played a practice match against Army XI today, where they won by 2-0. Both the goals were scored in the second half. Narahari Srestha and Surchandra Singh scored the goals for the Green and Maroon Brigade.

Bagan has played 3 matches in this CFL till now, but they are still playing practice games in between theses matches. On being asked about the matter Shankarlal said,” We are playing this practice games as this is a process. I want to see all the players through this practice matches. It will give sufficient practice to the reserve bench too. Kromah, Kamo and everyone else were the part of the playing XI today.”

The Green & Maroon coach for the CFL 2017, Shankarlal Chakraborty had also called Subhash Bhowmick yesterday to congratulate him for returning to the Kolkata Maidan as the coach of Tollygunge Agragami.
