Kolkata: Mexico and Chile U’17 footballers will draw inspiration from Spanish football legend Michel Salgado ahead of their FIFA U’17 World Cup openers here. Salgado along with Nigerian legend Emmanuel Amunike attended an Ethics Workshop with all the Group F teams here in Kolkata on Friday.

The former Real Madrid defender is now in Kolkata along with Amunike as FIFA legends. Salgado will be most remembered by the fans as he was a pillar in the Real Madrid defence. Emanuel Amunike burst into the limelight with his performance in the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA. Both the stars of yesteryears were here to brief the teams about the ethics on the field during the tournament.

The FIFA legends were greeted by the U’17 footballers of both teams. The teams were also showed audio visual clippings about maintain integrity on the field.  The players were also briefed about the importance of competing in a World Cup, and advised them to maintain discipline on the turf.

Salgado even enjoyed playing a game with the Mexican players, carrying the ball with his head and dipping it into a box. Perhaps a moment of fun for the U17 footballers ahead of the Group F clashes which begins on Sunday at the Salt Lake Stadium.
