Gareth Southgate’s side will now face Denmark in the semi final to be played at the Wembley Stadium on Wednesday.

Gareth Southgate will be a happy man as his boys ticked all the boxes heading into the business end of the tournament. Harry Kane is back with his goal scoring form. The England captain has now scored in back to back matches, ending fears over his form. Two goals from set pieces, another clean sheet, no bookings to those in danger of missing the semi-final and a chance to rest a few players.

England captain was on target straightaway as he scored from a Raheem Sterling pass to give England the lead in the 4th minute. Harry Maguire extended the lead with a fantastic header from a Luke Shaw set piece in the 46th minute. Shaw wasn’t done though as he sent a perfect cross for Kane to score his second goal of the night in the 50th minute. Substitute Jordan Henderson scored his first goal for the country from a header to hit the final nail in the coffin.

England will head into the semi finals feeling a lot more confident as it is the first time they scored 4 goals in the knock outs of a major tournament. Last time they did was in 1966 and the England fans will be hoping for history to repeat.
