EPL: Md. Salah and Firmino were on target as Liverpool beat Spurs to top the table

XtraTime Web Desk – Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 and overtook them to be at the top of the points table.

From the very first minute, Liverpool dominated and kept the possession while Tottenham depended on counter-attacks. Mohammad Salah broke the deadlock as the Egyptian strike beautifully in the 26th minute. Liverpool couldn’t lead for a long time as the Korean Hueng Min Son scored from an amazing counter-attack in the 33rd minute. Allison couldn’t do anything as Liverpool defence was non-existent.

It was the same in the second half. Liverpool kept the possession while Tottenham tried to convert from whatever chances they got. Steven Berjwin’s shot hit the bar in the 63rd minute that could’ve given an important lead to the spurs. Even though one of Sadio Mane’s shot hit the post in the 73rd minute, but he got many more chances that could’ve been a goal for Liverpool but Mane failed to convert. Roberto Firmino scored in the dying minutes to secure all three points for the Merseyside club. It was an important win for Livpool as they are now leading with 28 points from 13 games. Spurs are just behind them with 25 points from 13.

In other matches, Everton beat Leicester City 2-0, Leeds United beat Newcastle United 5-2, Arsenal drew 1-1 with Southampton, West Ham drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace and Fulham and Brighton finished in a goalless draw.
