East Bengal in advanced talks with Spanish coach Sergio Lobera

Xtra Time Web Desk: East Bengal club is in advanced talks with Spanish coach Sergio Lobera to improve their performance in the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season. According to a reports, the negotiations between East Bengal and Lobera are at an advanced stage, but he is yet to sign the contract.

If Lobera agrees to the deal, he will replace former India coach Stephen Constantine, who is currently managing the team’s campaign in the Super Cup in Kerala. Lobera has previous experience coaching in India, having led FC Goa to win the League Winner’s Shield and the Super Cup between 2017 and 2020. He then won the ISL Shield and Trophy double in his only season with Mumbai City FC before moving to China’s One Division League to coach Sichuan Jiuniu.

East Bengal has struggled in the ISL since joining the league in 2020, finishing 9th, 11th, and 9th in the last three seasons, respectively. The team has had three different coaches in the last three years, and the Englishman Constantine made some promising signings this season but failed to turn their fortunes around. The club is hoping that Lobera’s expertise can help revive their fortunes in the upcoming season.
