Kolkata: East Bengal have offered Haitian forward Wedson Anselme who played for Sk. Jamal Dhanmondi in the Bangladesh Premier league last season.

The Haitian goal machine was lured to Bangladesh football in the 2013-14 season by his compatriot Sony Norde, who had made a name for himself in the previous season with Sheikh Russel KC.

Wedson has so far scored 68 goals for Sheikh Jamal in two-and-a-half seasons, including six hattricks. He has scored a combined eight goals in the Independence Cup and the Federation Cup this season.

Wedson did not want to say anything about the talks with East Bengal but denied about any contract being done yet. Wedson has returned to Haiti today citing family reasons.

East Bengal football secretary, Santosh Bhattacharya said, ” Yes we are in talks with Wedson. We have offered him. But negotiations are still on. Nothing is final yet. Trevor Morgan is dealing with this matter as well as other foreigners.”

On the other hand, Sandesh Jhingan too has been offered by East Bengal but he will only be available after ISL as he is contracted with Kerala Blasters. It is known that, Sandesh Jhingan is very close Trevor Morgan since the later was the assistant coach of Kerala franchisee. It will be interesting to see when does Sandesh put the pen on the papers.

Regarding this issue, Santosh Bhattacharya said, “We have offered Sandesh and positive talks are on. It’s very early to say anything now. Let the ISL get over at first. Trevor will also look into Sandesh’s matter. Financial negotiations matters a lot. let’s hope for the best.”

Meanwhile, East Bengal are in talks with Subrata Paul and Karanjit Singh for the goalkeeper position. Either of the two will be signed. Santosh Bhattacharya too admitted these two names. He said, ” Karnajit and Subrata both are on our list. Its upto Trevor now whome he will sign.”
