Internet Desk: Though the selectors hadn’t picked him for the limited-overs tour against Sri Lanka, India’s star left-hand batsman Suresh Raina said that his family is the main reason that he keeps playing cricket. Raina last wore the blue jersey in an ODI match in 2015 and last played a T-20 game against England. Though after all these obstacles, Raina believes that he has four to five years of cricket still left in him. Raina also shared his goal that he wants to do well in all three formats of the game and return home to find his wife and daughter waiting for him. According to the star batsman from Uttar Pradesh, his 15-month-old daughter, Garcia, is the biggest motivation behind his all the efforts to improve his play. He also has his eyes set on the 2019 World Cup in England.
On being asked about her daughter’s role in his approach towards the game Raina said, “Two years back, when I was training and all, and my wife was expecting, I was thinking that cricket is all right, but there is so much more to life. I should have fun with my wife. But when I saw my daughter, I thought the other way – cricket is everything.”
He stated that his family is the reason why he wants to work hard when he is on the field. ” I should be even more serious, so I can make sure her future is good. I told my wife, this is me; I love my daughter, I love you, I love my family, but I love to play for my country. I know I have four-five more years of cricket. She said she would support me whatever I decide”, he added.
