Kolkata: Union Minister Babul Supriyo’s comments on Twitter regarding Mohun Bagan has already sparked new controversies, as the famous Bollywood singer impeached the Mohun Bagan officials by saying that the club has now been controlled by Trinomool Congress and alleged the club officials for ignoring the club legends.

The Bagan fans tweeted and criticized Babul for being mum despite the critical situation of the club in Indian football. Babul is known to be a loyal Mohun Bagan fan, so the fans expected him to be vocal in the crunch situation, which he didn’t. Babul too reacted to the grievances by bringing such allegations against the officials.
Though Mohun Bagan officials have reacted to the comments made by Babul and reacted quite judicially. Starting from their executive committee members to the football advisory committee and Mohun Bagan Ratna award – Mohun Bagan has prioritized the club legends in every department. Thus Babul’s comments have not only surprised them, but also made them upset.
Club Assistant Secretary Srinjoy Bose told www.xtratime.in, “Mohun Bagan has been such an organization where there has been no TMC, CPM, BJP or Congress. I didn’t understand what he tried to mean. If he had any question about the club legends, he could have easily spoken to us.” He added, “Even a few days back I found him in the flight, but he didn’t say anything to me. For the Mohun Bagan fans, there is only two colours and that is Green and Maroon.”
A Bagan official also mentioned, “Club legend Satyajit Chatterjee is now there in the executive committee. We have an advisory committee comprising of club legends to help the team management. Every year we confer the Mohun Bagan Ratna award to show our respect to the club legends. So, I don’t understand on which ground he brought this allegation. Secondly, neither Srinjoy Bose, nor Mr Swapan Sadhan Bose is associated with TMC these days. So there is no point of bringing the TMC connection.” He also added, “The way the State Government is helping all the clubs to develop their infrastructure, is indeed a commendable initiative. We would equally applaud the Central Government, if they do such things to help the clubs.”
Now, it is to see how Babul responds after getting the reactions from his favourite club, their officials and fans on this matter.
