Dinesh Karthik, KL Rahul in focus during optional practice session at Adelaide Oval ahead of Bangladesh tie | INDvBAN

Xtra Time Web Desk: All the spotlight was on Team India vice-captain KL Rahul during the optional practice session at the Adelaide Oval indoor nets on Tuesday. Rahul had an extensive batting session but most importantly had a long session with teammate Virat Kohli. The opener is struggling for form as he has been dismissed for three low scores against Pakistan, Netherlands, and South Africa.

Virat was seen coming forward to help Rahul sort out his technical flaws ahead of the Bangladesh tie on Wednesday. Both were seen discussing how to handle short ball outside off stumps in the presence of batting coach Vikram Rathour.

Another cricketer who hogged attention during the optional practice session was Dinesh Karthik. The veteran wicket-keeper batter had to come out of the field due to a lower back spasm during the game against South Africa at Perth stadium on Sunday. Karthik hardly looked to have any discomfort as he batted at the indoor nets for a long time and also kept wickets under fielding coach T Dilip.

Spin twins Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzuvendra Chahal were seen bowling in tandem in the training session. Interestingly, India have opted to play only Ashwin in all three matches in T20 World Cup. Chahal has not yet given a look in. Traditionally the Adelaide Oval pitch is on slower side. With the addition of leg spinner in Chahal, India can try to exploit the pitch against Bangladesh in a must-win encounter.

The Men in Blue were forced to train indoors because of rains. The Indian cricketers turned up in the afternoon to have an outdoor net but rain played spoilsport. Captain Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav along with all the pacers did not turn up for optional practice session.
