CPL 2020: Dwayne Bravo becomes the first bowler to pick 500 T20 wickets

XtraTime Web Desk: A day after England medium pacer James Anderson created history by claiming 600 test wickets; Trinidadian Dwayne Bravo also wrote his name in history books on Wednesday by becoming the first bowler to claim 500 wickets in T20 cricket. In fact Bravo was also the first bowler to reach 300 and 400 T20 wickets. Bravo achieved the 500 wicket milestone playing for the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) against St Lucia Zouks in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2020) match. He picked the wicket of Rakheem Cornwall.

Bravo’s variations and his control of the slower ball have made him a potent force in the shortest format. He has topped the wickets tally in the 2009 Champions League T20, the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2013 and 2015, the CPL 2015 and in 2016, the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in 2016-17, and the Big Bash League (BBL) in 2017-18.

The Tinidad born all-rounder had called time on his international career in October 2018, and turned his focus to playing franchise T20 cricket around the world. He will be seen in action for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the upcoming 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) in UAE next month. The cash rich league will start from September 19 and the final will be played on November 10. The matches of the 53 days tournament will be staged across three venues – Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
