File Pic[/caption] Internet Desk: India faced their first defeat in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy on Thursday. The defending champions were defeated in their second match when Sri Lanka won by 7 wickets and 1.2 overs to spare. Put to bat first India made 321/6 and it return the Lankans score 322/3. When questioned about the turning point of the game, Indian skipper Virat Kohli said that their opposition i.e. Sri Lanka played really well and it is a vital factor. He also said that this team played well, the batsmen did their job while the bowers bowled decently. The defeat proves that India is no longer an invincible team as other teams are also champion sides. “We are not invincible. I mentioned this before this Champions Trophy, you’ve got top eight teams in the world. There is no guarantee that someone can’t beat the other” he added. “Virtually every game is a quarterfinal now. In our group especially, all teams are on two points and you have to win your next game to go through, which is, I think an exciting position to be in for all teams” said Virat when he was questioned that lower ranked teams have started defeating higher ranked teams. The Indian bowlers faced criticism after failing to take adequate wickets to which the Kohli said, “You trust your bowlers to control runs, and you, you know, have good lengths and have your covers when they get out. Generally, we wanted to do it in this game. We did that in the last game as well. Sometimes it comes off, sometimes it doesn’t. That doesn’t mean you don’t think what if we had done something different? You back a side, and you go with it.” Lack of swing was not a factor for India failing to register a victory and the Indian skipper thinks “We didn’t have swing in Birmingham either, and I think we bowled pretty well but they didn’t lose wickets in the middle overs. Sometimes teams are going to come up and do that against you, and you can’t literally do anything in the game” “We will have to sit down and think of how we match up against the opposition that we are playing against. From the batting point of view, as I said, I thought we paced it well. I thought we had enough on the board. Maybe we have to push harder now in the next few games to give us a 20-run cushion” said Kohli. After today’s loss team India are determined to reach the semis and the skipper too thinks the same. “There’s no room for complacency in a tournament like this, as we as a team certainly don’t feel that, even if we had four points on the board right now, we still would have gone out there to try to beat South Africa, and that’s exactly the mindset we are going to take into the next game. We try to win every game that we play. That’s why you play International Cricket”.
