CAB to get alternate plot of land for stadium by WB Government

Xtra Time Web Desk : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly on Thursday met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna for a 30 minute long courtesy meeting, with the main focus being on providing CAB with an alternative land to Dumurjala land for building a world class stadium in the state.

Earlier, BCCI provided the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) with a sum of INR 25 Crore for building a world class stadium in West Bengal. And as per plans, the government of West Bengal sanctioned a land at Dumurjala’s Khel Nagari for the above purpose which later had to be revoked due to the area being a wetland/lowland.

Thus, the Mamata Banerjee led government on Thursday assured Ganguly of providing CAB with an alternative land of 15 acres around Dumurjala itself, where the world class stadium could be built easily.

“Sourav Ganguly met me today at Nabanna. We had given a plot of land at Khel Nagari to Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to build a cricket stadium. But it was found that there is a water body and hence a full-fledged cricket stadium cannot be built there. He requested if an alternate land can be given to CAB” said CM Mamata Banerjee in her press briefing at Nabanna.

It also known that the above two heavyweights discussed the topic of the upcoming PlayOff matches for the ongoing IPL 2022 season. The IPL playoffs will be played at the Eden Gardens with a hundred percent capacity. The dates are yet to be announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Eden Gardens is slated to host the first qualifier and Eliminator.
