In order to amend its constitution in line with the Supreme Court verdict, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) emergent working committee meeting will be held on Monday to decide on a date for the Special General Meeting (SGM), president Sourav Ganguly announced here on Wednesday. "The emergent working committee will meet on Monday. After that will be the SGM and then the AGM," former India captain Ganguly told reporters here. The meeting was marred by altercation between the members as one of them (Biswarup Dey) raised the issue that the assistant secretary of the association cannot be regarded as an office bearer. It was challenged by all the other members who said that the constitution of the association states that the assistant secretary is regarded as an office bearer. Later after the meeting the CAB President was seen somewhat jokingly saying Anu Dutta (one of the assistant secretary) that he no longer happens to an office bearer. Tempers flared when CAB’s legal counsel Usha Nath Banerjee started reading the Supreme Court order, saying that it needs to be implemented with immediate effect. Biswarup Dey and Subir Ganguly both started arguing saying there were no such orders from the apex court. Mr Banerjee was seen rushing to the Presidents room from the meeting. Both Biswarup Dey and Subir Ganguly, who finished their terms accepted that they have to make their way. The treasurer will not be eligible to represent the working committee meeting after SGM as he has already served a term of 10 years. Asked about CAB's few office bearers who have completed their term as per the Lodha committee guidelines, Ganguly said, "We don't disrespect anyone. They are all part of the association." Meanwhile, the office bearers also discussed about the hosting of the third ODI between India and England at the Eden Gardens. "Tickets will be issued to various affiliated clubs on January 12 and 13th. For the public it will be made available from 16th January," an official said. According to sources, the SGM will be held after the ODI. The amendment of the constitution is expected to be made at the SGM.
