Bhuvneshwar Kumar should be included in Indian side for test series against England, says Nasser Hussain

Xtra Time Web Desk: Former England captain Nasser Hussain has said Bhuvneshwar Kumar should be added to the Indian squad ahead of the test series against England. The former England batsman feels the conditions in England will perfectly suit Bhuvneshwar. India ended up losing the ICC World Test Championship Final recently to New Zealand. Barring the exception of Mohammed Shami, none of the other two pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma looked as a threat to the New Zealand batsmen. Bumrah went wicket less in both innings.

Seeing the below-average performance of the Indian seamers, Nasser felt India needs to call up their ace swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar to England to add more firepower to the bowling.

Though Hussain admitted that Bhuvneshwar has injury concerns, the veteran believes that he can do wonders for the Indian team even by playing just one or two Test matches. Notably, Bhuvi last featured in a Test game for India in January 2019. Multiple injuries and surgeries have kept the pace bowler away from the purest format of the game.

“Bhuvneshwar should be called up for the England series. Though he has injury concerns, even if he can play two or three Tests for India, the team will greatly benefit. The conditions will suit him and we all saw how the team is missing a genuine swing bowler,” Hussain said on air during Day 3 of the WTC final at Southampton’s Ageas Bowl.

Bhuvneshwar, who will be touring Sri Lanka for the white ball series has a pretty decent record bowling in England, having picked 19 wickets at an average of 26.63 with two five-wicket-hauls in five Tests.
