Internet Desk: After a good start on the first day Bengal’s innings stumbled on the second day of Dr. K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament. However, they are leading in first innings by only 27 runs at the end of the day.

Bengal bowlers picked up early 10wickets of KSCA on the first day and hold them by only 130 runs. Also the openers of Bengal started well to give Bengal a good lead in the first innings.

However, the morning did not show the day. Bengal could not carry on their performance on the second day. Among the batsmen of Bengal only opener Prasenjit Das(74) could cross the half century mark. Apart from him Pankaj Shaw scored the second highest 33 and Sudip Chatterjee the third highest of 20 runs. All the middle order batsmen and tail enders failed to give Bengal a good score. Thus their innings ended with 209 having a lead of only 79 runs.

In response to the Bengal innings KSCA started their second innings with much determination. Within a short time they scored 52 runs reducing the lead by 27 runs at the end of the second day. Prior to the first innings batting of Bengal, stop gap captain Pragyan Ojha declared of their strategy of batting the whole day. That strategy failed as Bengal lost all of their wickets.

Now Bengal will be further dependant on its bowlers to get KSCA all out. As soon as bowlers will be able to get all the wickets that much time the batsmen will get to chase the target KSCA would set up in-front of Bengal. KSCA has two days in hand to set up a good lead to win this match.

Brief Score: KSCA: 130/10 & 52/0; Bengal: 209/10 Prsenjit Das- 74(111), Pankaj Shaw- 33(82); R G More- 12.5-4-33-3.
