BCCI assistant secretary Amitabh Choudhury clarified to xtratime.in about the BCCI decision. “Well as far as my knowledge goes BCCI needs to implement the Lodha committee recommendations soon and there are many members in different committees who are over seventy years and have also completed nine years in office, to right-off any confusion all names from the committees have been removed at the moment.”

In another development Niranjan Shah, veteran cricket administrator and secretary of the Saurashtra Cricket Association, on Wednesday(January 4) left his position in accordance with the Justice Lodha Committee’s recommendations. The move came following Supreme Court’s order of asking Anurag Thakur and Ajay Shirke to vacate their respective posts from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

As per the recommendations, an administrator should not be over the age of 70 and should not serve a term of more than three years in one go or more than nine years in total. The 72-year old has been the secretary of SCA since 1972.

“I am out (of Saurashtra cricket) post the Supreme Court order, there is nothing much to say really and there is no need to resign. The court order very clearly states the eligibility criteria.” Shah said.
