Ashwin & Sundar included in ODI squad for the series against Australia; KL Rahul to lead first two ODIs

Xtra Time Web Desk: The senior national selection committee on Monday announced the squads for the three match ODI series against Australia. KL Rahul has been named as the captain for the first two ODIs. Rohit Sharma will be back leading the third and final ODI. Ajit Agarkar led selection committee has rested players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav for first two ODIs. Off spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar has been named for all the three ODIs. It is for the first time since 2022 the duo will be a part of the squad for the entirety of the series.

Ravindra Jadeja will be the deputy for Rahul in the first two ODIs. Sanju Samson has been overlooked for all the three ODIs. Ishan Kishan, who has been in tremendous form has in recent times is preferred over the wicketkeeper batter from Kerala.

The Men in Blue will feel confident after the Asia Cup 2023 win, beating Sri Lanka in the final by 10 wickets. Mohammed Siraj put up a phenomenal spell, ripping through the top order of Sri Lanka batting. The Lankan team was bowled out for only 50 runs. Ishan Kishana and Shubman Gill chased down the target with 273 balls to spare.

The three ODIs between India and Australia will take place on September 22, 24 and 27 in Mohali, Indore and Rajkot respectively.
