Internet Desk: Former Indian opener and currently a charismatic television commentator Arun Lal is battling with Cancer. He has been diagnosed with jaw cancer in January 2016 but did not reveal it to the rest of the World till Saturday. He had been missing from Indian television for some time. The 60-year-old Lal underwent a 14-hour surgery very recently to get his jaw replaced at the Tata Medical Research Centre in Kolkata.

Speaking to xtratime.in Lal said, “It’s been very tough but with all the support and blessings of well wishers and family I have been able to cope. Doctors these days are miracle workers. God is great”

Lal is not the only Indian who has won the battle against cancer. One of India’s greatest match-winner Yuvraj Singh was diagnosed with cancer after India’s successful World Cup triumph in 2011.

After he successfully completed his treatment, Yuvraj had said, “When I got cancer, I asked god why me. But then, when I got Man of the Tournament prize, I didn’t say why me. So these things are part of life and you have to take them in your stride.”

Lal played 16 Tests and 13 ODIs from the period of 1982 till 1989. Arun made his debut against Sri Lanka, where he scored 63. He was a prolific run-getter in the Ranji Trophy, scoring 6763 runs at an average of over 53, putting him fifth in the all-time aggregate list.
