Internet Desk: Andy Murray made a winning start in Davis Cup with a straight set win over Japan’s Taro Daniel on Friday. Murray won 6-1,6-3,6-1 to give a 1-0 lead to Great Britain in the World Group First Round tie.

Murray helped Great Britain to win their first Davis Cup in 79 years with a victory over Belgium. If Britain managed to defeat Japan they will face either Kazakhstan or Novak Djokovic’s Serbia in the next round. Murray is now unbeaten in 12 Davis Cup matches.

Australian No1 Bernard Tomic defeated Jack Sock of America to level the Davis Cup tie. Tomic won   7-6 (7-2),6-3,3-6,6-4. Earlier American John Isner defeated Sam Groth 7-6,(7-2),6-2,6-2 in the opening singles rubber to give the lead to USA.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic will take on Aleksandr Nedovyesov on Friday in the opening match when Serbia takes on Kazakhstan in the first round of the Davis Cup.
