But an over bowled by him on Saturday against Baroda in Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy have caught the attention of everyone . There have not been many occasions in which a bowler who generally bowled right-handed, has shifted his style to stun opponents while bowling right and left handed in the same over. It happened so with Akshay who bowled right handed to Hardik Pandya and shifted to the other hand while bowling to Irfan Pathan in the Super League Group A match . This will no doubt rank amongst the best as one of the most out-of-the-box ideas.
Karnewar’s idea surprised not only his team-mates but also the batsmen and the umpires.
During the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match vs Baroda Akshay started bowling left arm orthodox spin to Hardik Pandya who was in blistering form. He then bowled a right arm spin to left handed Irfan Pathan. His trick seemed to have got the results but due to some sloppy fielding he couldn’t get a wicket. Karnewar ‘s spell read 2-0-15-1 at the end of the match.
Karnewar was instrumental in Vidarbha’s success this year . He finished sixth in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare trophy with 16 wickets from seven matches. Karnewar had previously given trials for Rajasthan Royals but couldn’t make the cut. He also registered for IPL auction this year.
