Kolkata: Mohun Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen’s comments against AIFF after Tampine Rovers match in AFC Champions League qualifier has put him in trouble. Sanjoy Sen expressed his frustration by lashing at the AIFF . The Bagan coach made derogatory remarks against the AIFF officials stating the parent body being sold to a particular company or group.
The Bagan coach has been asked to reply within 7 days to the disciplinary committee. The AIFF disciplinary committee will convey his reply to the AIFF who will take a final call . Sources revealed that if the answer is not satisfactory , last year’s best coach in I-League may be banned for 3 matches or else have to pay a hefty fine of Rs.5,00,000.
Mohun Bagan assistant secretary Srinjoy Basu seemed to be in no hurry ,” I am out of town right now. Let me get the letter in hand and then I will speak to Sanjoy Sen and other officials before deciding what will be our next course of action . We have seven days to decide and and are in no hurry at the moment . It just takes 30 seconds to send a mail.”
Meanwhile Mohun Bagan team reached Kolkata from China via Hyderabad early morning at 8a.m. after a disastrous outing against Shandong Luneng FC . The Mariners were thrashed 0-6 . After a long journey for almost 20-22 hours the players looked physically and mentally tired .
Mohun Bagan players are scheduled to attend a gym session tomorrow morning . The players are still in a awe about the mauling it received at the hands of Shandong . According to Kinshuk Debnath ,“Shandong were a far more superior team than us . It was always going to be a difficult task for us , specially after having just one training session in such chilly condition . On the match day the temperature was moving around 5 degrees and it was getting extremely difficult to hold the ball . In the second half our body became stiff and we could not match their pace. But this loss won’t affect our run in the I-league. Most importantly our players will get the much needed rest before the vital Mumbai FC match.”
Custodian Debjit Majumder feels ,” I was very sad after conceding 6 goals. I could not believe myself. I kept myself locked in the hotel room. But my coach and players supported me through out.” On asking him that being the Best Goalkeeper in the last I-league how does it feel after conceding 6 goals? Debjit replied ,” It was a great learning experience for me to be up against a quality attack . I would want to forget the bitter experience and concentrate on my game . My aim is to continue the good form in the I-league and prepare myself for the forthcoming AFC cup where I would want to leave a mark .”
