Internet Desk: India captain Virat Kohli on Thursday dragged himself into an unnecessary controversy after a video of him chewing gum during India’s national anthem at Eden Gardens got viral.
In the video footage the Indian captain was seen chewing gum while the Indian national anthem was played ahead of the first Test against Sri Lanka.

It’s pertinent to mention here that Jammu & Kashmir cricketer Parvez Rasool had faced a widespread criticism for the similar actions when he made his India debut earlier this year against England.
It was definitely a day to forget for the Indian captain as he lost a crucial toss and then was dismissed by a delivery from Suranga Lakmal which found his pads in front of the wicket. Although he did take a review but it was an unsuccessful one as the replays showed that the ball was clearly in line to hit the leg stumps.
However the clippings of Virat chewing gum during the national anthem have overshadowed the dismal start that the Indians got in the test match. At stumps on a rain curtailed first day, Indians find them reeling at 17/3 after 12 overs.
