2nd Test, Day 2: Tail enders put India on the driver’s seat against Sri Lanka

Internet Desk: India put up a mammoth total in Day 2 of the second test against Sri lanka where the hosts ended their score at 344-3 on Day 1 and then continued to score in quick firing to amass a total of 622-9. The visitors declared after piling up this total and then managed to pick two quick wickets from the hosts.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane both scored big runs, 133 and 132 respectively. Pujara made a remarkable feat after scoring a hundred in his 50th test match.

Apart from a strong performance from the middle order batsmen, the tail Enders of the team too scored runs in plenty and thereby helping the team to amass such a huge total.

Ashwin registered his 11th test half century when he was dismissed on 54. Wriddhiman Saha too played brilliantly scoring 67 while Ravinder Jadeja scored 70 of 85 balls which consisted of 3 huge sixes.

Rangana Herath was the star bowler from the Lankan side after he scalped 4 wickets.

Coming to bat, the Lankan side was casual to lose 2 important wickets and ended their day on the score of 50-2.

Upul Tharanga was dismissed for a duck while Dimuth Karunaratne was dismissed on 25. Ashwin was yet again successful as he bagged both the wickets after bowling 10 overs.
