WTC Final 2023: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan likely to be named as stand-by

Xtra Time Web Desk: Ishan Kishan is likely to among the stand players for the upcoming World Test Championship final. The wicket-keeper batter from Jharkhand failed to make it to the 15-member squad. KS Bharath was named as a specialist wicketkeeper along with KL Rahul. Maharashtra batter Ruturaj Gaikwad too can be named as a stand-by cricketer along with Sarafaraz Khan. BCCI will be announcing the names of the stand-by players soon. It is not clear whether the stand-by players will be travelling to the UK or not.

According to ICC, teams can name as many as 5 stand-by players for the WTC Final. According to reports Delhi Capitals pacer duo Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini will be as stand-by in case any pacer is injured.

The 15-member squad includes 5 pacers in the likes of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Shardul Thakur and Jaydev Unadkat.

The World Test Championship Final will be played between India and Australia at the Oval starting from June 7.

Meanwhile BCCI is trying to arrange a multi-day practice games for the Indian team. With most of the players returning after IPL 2023 season, there will be a short camp organized ahead of the WTC Final. The idea is to help the players get acclimatized to the conditions in UK.

Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid is likely to travel to London on May 23 along with the first batch of players.
