Wriddhiman Saha to undergo surgery amid India-England Test series

XtraTime Web Desk: Virat Kohli and India on Wednesday will be locking horns with England in the first Test match out of the Five-match series at Edgbaston. But despite of being in England, India Cricket team’s no. 1 Wicket-keeper in the Test format, Wriddhiman Saha will not play any part in the upcoming series. When India and England will be busy taking each other in the 22 yard field,  “Superman” will undergo his much anticipated shoulder surgery.





On Wedenesday morning(Afternoon in Indian time), Wriddhiman’s surgery on his right shoulder will be operated at Manchester’s Wrightington Hospital. Well known Orthopedist, Lenard Frank will look after him.

As a result on Sunday, Papali departed from Bengaluru with BCCI’s physio, Yogesh for London. News have come from a close source, that on Monday, Lenard Frank conducted few tests on Wriddhiman’s shoulder. Frank has assured that after the surgery, rehabilitation in the next few months will make the wicket-keeper batsman completely fit. Saha and his family breathed a sigh of relief as the doctor also assured that he will make a speedy comeback to the cricket field.

On Monday night, Wriddhiman has informed her wife via a Whatsapp call about his health and what the doctor have advised. Wriddhi’s family has said that he’ll be released from the Hospital on Wednesday evening. He’ll be resting in his hotel, for a few days. Then he’ll again consult Orthopedist, Lenard Frank before leaving for India.





Wriddhiman injured his right shoulder during the IPL, while attempting a dive. During that time on advise of the doctors, he got himself injected and also completed a rehabilitation process at NCA to help him keep fit for the England Test series. But he couldn’t be fit on time and that is why BCCI conducted his surgery keeping in mind of his career in the near future.

Sources say that BCCI arranged Wriddhiman’s visa for his England tour. Doctors have said that a minimum period of 4-6 months will be required to be declared completely fit. The Cricket world will be eagerly wait for Saha’s return.
