Deepti scored a scintillating knock of 188 runs against Ireland women’s team to become the highest individual scorer for India in ODI’s. Deepti was involved in a record opening stand for 320 runs with Poonam Raut against Ireland during the four nation tournament in Potchefstroom on Monday. Deepti’s 188 off 160 balls included 27 fours and two sixes while Poonam scored 109 off 116 balls, with 11 fours. Riding on their record partnership Indian women’s team posted a mammoth total of 358/3 in 50 overs. In reply Ireland women's were bowled out for only 109 in 40 overs. The 249-run win is also India Women’s biggest victory in ODIs in terms of runs. With four wins from four matches, India are now the only unbeaten side in the tournament with wins over South Africa, Ireland (twice) and Zimbabwe. Deepti’s 188 is the second highest individual score by a woman cricketer in ODIs. The highest belongs to Aussie Belinda Clark, who made 229 against Denmark in 1997. The previous highest individual total by a female Indian cricketer was 138* scored by Jaya Sharma against Pakistan women's cricket team in Karachi in 2005. The Indian duo of Deepti and Poonam batted for over 45 overs to aggregate 320 at the top. The BCCI congratulated Deepti Sharma, Punam Raut and the Indian Women’s Cricket Team for their outstanding performance in the ODI against Ireland Women that saw several records being broken. BCCI acting Hony. Secretary, Amitabh Choudhary, said: “The Indian Women's team are on a record-breaking spree in the Women's Quadrangular Series and I congratulate them for their all-round show. It started with Jhulan Goswami becoming the leading wicket taker in Women's ODIs and today we have witnessed a plethora of records.” “The Indian Women's Team have not only been consistent in the ongoing series but they have dominated their opposition right from the start. With the ICC Women's World Cup 2017 just around the corner, I am confident that Team India will carry their winning momentum into the big event,” he added. It has been a tournament for the Indian women cricketers. Earlier last week, Jhulan Goswami became the highest wicket-taker in women’s ODIs when she got her 181st wicket, going past Australian Cathryn Fitzpatrick’s decade-old record of 180. It has been good going for India women, who have won all the three previous matches, having beaten Ireland by 10 wickets, South Africa by 7 wickets and Zimbabwe by 9 wickets.
