The players were scheduled to catch a flight from Lengpui Airport, as they were leaving for Cuttack to play the Federation Cup in couple of days’ time. But the bus carrying them met with an accident, police said. There were no casualties and none of the players sustained injuries, police said. The mishap occurred as the driver reportedly dozed off while driving and the bus fell into a drain, police said. xtratime.in contacted with Aizawl FC star player Ashutosh Mehta after the incident. According to Mehta,” The bus suddenly went into a hole when they were heading for the airport to catch a flight for Bhubaneswar. The bus was a bit damaged but all the players are safe. After the incident local people and the police authority helped a lot to get the bus out from the hole. We have safely reached to Bhubaneswar few moments ago.” Earlier, an Aizwal FC fan had died during the reception ceremony of the club at the Assam Rifles ground on Monday, police said.
