Image Source: XtraTime[/caption] Kolkata: Despite beating Chennai City FC by 2-1 in their last game today at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium, Mohun Bagan has to settle with their place the Runners up of the Hero I-League 2017. After the game the Bagan Coach Sanjoy Sen said, "Maa Sarada once said whatever you have, learn to be happy with that. I know the officials and the fans wanted a better result, but unfortunately like the other countries there is no value of a top 4 finish in our country. Here, people only give credit if you end up being the champions." The Bagan Coach though said, "I'm proud of my boys with the way they fought back today to win the game. They gave their best and did all they could do today. Our focus will now be the Federation Cup. We want to repeat what we did the last season to end the season on a high." At the same time the Bagan coach hailed the success of Aizawl FC, as he said, "It's indeed disappointing on our perspective, but since I was a coach of the smaller teams what all I can say is that Aizawl's I-League win has been a fresh air in Indian football. I want to congratulate them." The Bagan coach also reminded, "The reason why I never particularly praise Sony Norde is that I believe in team game. I hope my team will bounce back strongly in the Federation Cup." Meanwhile, Bagan's Haitian star Sony Norde said, "We fought hard but the champion's luck was not with us. Dropping points against Mumbai FC at home and Aizawl away proved to be costly." At the same time Jeje Lalpekhlua said, "I want to congratulate Aizawl FC but the Mohun Bagan fans should remember that it's not possible to win the league every season."
